Manual therapy helps alleviate aches and pains

Sports and remedial massage therapy is suitable for everyone, from amateur to elite athletes and everyday individuals.

If you need help with muscle strains, aches and pains, need a little extra help with rehab after injury or simply want to improve your performance, sports massage, dry needling or cupping may be for you.

Acute sporting, occupational injuries or postural conditions can all benefit from our manual therapy treatments.

Sports & Remedial Massage

Anyone who wants to improve quality of movement, performance, increase range and prevent injuries from occurring will find sports massage beneficial.

Sports massage and Remedial Massage is proven to release and reduce tension in muscles, help the body to relax, improve circulation and encourage the removal of waste products such as lactic acid during any high intensity activity.

It can be used to treat conditions such as tendonitis, strains, sprains and muscle/facial adhesions. When used in conjunction with any rehabilitation, sporting training schedules and conditioning programs, sports massage can help enhance performance, aid in recovery and reduce the risk of injuries occurring.

Dry Needling

Dry needling involves the insertion of fine needles, typically around myofascial trigger points. These points have often been described as a hyper-irritable spot within a skeletal muscle which can be painful when pushed or refer pain, resulting in dysfunction elsewhere in the body.

Although it uses similar tools, dry needling is not the same as acupuncture. Dry needling treats muscle tissue with the goal of reducing pain, inactivate trigger points and restore function. Rarely being a stand alone treatment, dry needling can be used as a part of your sports and remedial massage treatments.

Cupping provides a method of causing local congestion. When the cups are placed on the skin, a partial vacuum is created within the cup that draws up the underlying tissues. After a few minutes, blood stasis is formed and localised healing takes place.

This localised vacuum causes tissues (sometimes up to 4 inches deep) to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, help alleviate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries, activate the skin and release facia build up. Not typically a stand alone treatment, cupping is used as a part of your sports and remedial massage treatments.
